ASTRASAND®

ASTRASAND® is a continuous sand filter, in which the filter bed is continuously cleaned during the filtration operation. It can be applied for different purposes: for physical-chemical treatment (solids removal) and/or biological treatment (phosphate and nitrogen removal).

ASTRASEPARATOR®

Many wastewater streams contain suspended solids that cannot be disposed of or cause problems in ‘downstream’ wastewater treatment systems.

To remove these solids from the wastewater Paques developed a compact settling system, the ASTRASEPARATOR®. The settling system combines compactness with trouble free operation and minimum maintenance. It removes suspended solids in a simple and effective way.

Biogas Buffer & Flare

Biogas Buffer by Paques

A gas buffer is required to equalize the pressure and flow of the biogas produced in the anaerobic treatment step.

The Biogas Buffer has a very practical design that allows for easy inspection and convenient service of its vital parts. It does not rely on failure-prone rotating equipment or the commonly used guarded water locks, but uses dead weight for counter pressure. The Biogas Buffer is an ingenious solution for companies who want reliability and simplicity.

CIRCOX®

CIRCOX - aerobic COD removal by Paques - 1

If deep COD removal is required, then anaerobic treatment is usually followed by aerobic treatment.

CIRCOX® is a fully closed aerobic system with outstanding performance. It is very suitable for aerobic polishing of anaerobic effluent in urban areas because the bioreactors are relatively small and require little space, whilst the technology has a high volumetric conversion.

In addition to COD removal, CIRCOX® nitrifies ammonia and fully removes nitrogen with the special extension of an anoxic zone. In combination with a DAF – this is necessary as solids wash through the system – CIRCOX® results in high quality water. Biological sludge slowly grows in high concentrations of biofilms on a carrier. The mixing of water, gas and biomass is very good which leads to high conversation rates.

MBOX™

MBOX™ is an external cross flow system with tubular membranes. This technology is typically applied as ultrafiltration step for water reuse.

MBOX™ incorporates the patented BioAir DS system, which stands out well above other systems for its very low energy requirements and prolonged lifetime of membranes.

PHOSPAQ™

The PHOSPAQ™ process is applied to recover phosphate from effluents as struvite. Phosphate is becoming scarce, thus making recovery more and more interesting. PHOSPAQ™ is a cost-effective technology compared to e.g. dosing of iron salts. Moreover, the produced struvite is an excellent slow release fertilizer for N, P and Mg.

The PHOSPAQ™ process removes biological degradable COD, phosphate (PO4 3-) and ammonium (NH4+) from waste water. With oxygen, the COD is biologically converted into new biomass and CO2. By adding magnesium oxide (MgO), phosphate and ammonium precipitate as struvite (MgNH4PO4x6H20 or MAP). The struvite granules are being removed from the water phase, and are ready for agricultural use (fertilizer). The struvite complies with EU standards for fertilizer.

SULFATEQ™

SULFATEQ - sulphate and metal removal by Paques - process scheme

SULFATEQ™ removes sulphate to less than 300 mg/l and converts it into hydrophilic (non-clogging) elemental sulfur. In addition, it recovers valuable metals such as copper, nickel and zinc as marketable metal sulfides.

Lime treatment for sulphate removal no longer meets the authorities’ requirements for sulphate concentrations or total dissolved solids. Reverse osmosis and ion exchange do not completely solve the problem either. They merely concentrate the pollutants, whereas SULFATEQ™ converts the pollutants into a valuable product.

THIOTEQ™Metal

THIOTEQ - sulphide generation by Paques - process scheme

Why let valuable dissolved metals go to waste? Why mix toxic metal with a pile of gypsum? THIOTEQ™Metal technology recovers dissolved metals from liquids by the formation of high purity metal sulphides. These can either be marketed or else disposed off in a very compact form.

The required sulphide for this process is generated on-site in a bioreactor from a low cost sulfur source at ambient temperature and pressure.

THIOTEQ™Scorodite

ARSENOTEQ - arsenic removal by Paques - process scheme

THIOTEQ™Scorodite is a process for the safe immobilization of arsenic from liquids through the biological formation of highly stable bioscorodite (FeAsO4.2H2O).

Currently, the most acceptable form of arsenic disposal is by a chemical process that produces mineral Scorodite (FeAsO4x2H20). THIOTEQ™Scorodite successfully produces fully crystalline Scorodite in a biological process, reducing arsenic levels of several grams per liter to milligrams per liter in one step.
