Water Technologies Canada integrates into its technology offering pre-engineered and custom ultra-filtration (UF) membrane systems manufactured by Wigen Water Technologies.

Founded in 1965, Wigen has evolved from a manufacturer’s representative firm into a global leader in custom water treatment and purification systems. With several U.S. patents to its credit, Wigen continues to develop new methods aimed at recycling and recovering our most precious resource.

Wigen has fully integrated production and fabrication capabilities; outsourcing only blasting, painting and electropolishing services.

Supported by a team of chemical engineers and mechanical and electrical designers, Wigen’s manufacturing center includes metalworking, welding, panel building, pipe fitting, clean room assembly, general fabrication and testing operations.

Wigen is a privately held corporation, with headquarters near Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as operations in Chicago, Denver, New York, and Phoenix. Wigen currently markets to customers throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Wigen Water Technologies has developed the SpectrumTM Universal UF Rack to accommodate up to five different MF or UF modules that will allow customers to competitively bid replacement modules in the future, rather than be locked into one supplier for the life of the treatment plant.

Wigen Water Technologies built the first large scale Universal UF Rack system in North America for the City of Santa Barbara’s El Estero Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The SpectrumTM Universal UF Rack is designed so that spool pieces can be interchanged on the header system to accommodate different size membrane modules, varying port locations and connection sizes.

A typical UF system consists of the following main components:

  • Module rack/s and UF modules
  • Skid/s with:
    • Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature instruments
    • Feed pump
    • Strainer
    • Valves and actuators
    • Controls
    • Piping
    • Turbidimeter/s
  • Feed Tank with modulating level control valve, level transmitter
  • Reverse Filtration (RF) tank and pump, level transmitter
  • Control Panel housing the system PLC and HMI
  • PLC and HMI Programming Software
  • CIP system (for enhanced flux clean and clean-in-place)
    • Hot water tank and heater
    • Hot water transfer pump (if pressurized source is not available)
    • Chemical injection pumps – double diaphragm, air operated
    • Skidded design for fast installation
  • Compressed air system (for valve actuation, integrity testing, and air scrubbing during back-washing)
    • Air Compressor
    • Air Receiver
  • Optional equipment and services:
    • Assistance with installation, start-up, commissioning, and operator training
    • Redundant equipment

Ultra-filtration Hollow-Fiber Module Portfolio

Hollow-fiber ultra-filtration membranes are used for the removal of suspended and colloidal contaminants in drinking water, process water, and waste water type applications.

DOW powerful UF product portfolio features DOW IntegraFlux™ Ultrafiltration Modules and DOW IntegraPac™ Ultrafiltration Skids that utilize our latest high permeability XP fiber to improve operating efficiencies and productivity. The modules incorporate PVDF hollow fiber membranes in an outside-in flow configuration with a 0.03 micron nominal pore diameter making them an excellent choice to protect downstream processes such as RO. The modules provide excellent performance, industry leading membrane area with low energy and chemical consumption, effectively minimizing the number of modules needed for your design. The modules are an excellent choice for high removal capability for viruses, bacteria, suspended solids, colloids and pathogens from water and have been tested and certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 61, and also have NSF/ANSI 419 LRV certifications facilitating safe use in drinking water applications.

UF Modules – for small to medium size, pre-engineered systems

DOW IntegraPac Skids are pre-engineered, standardized and ready-to-assemble. The IntegraPac skids are comprised of DOW™ IntegraPac modules, auxiliary parts and piping, and can significantly streamline design, assembly and installation as seen in the video here. The latest Dow innovation includes IntegraPac modules with XP fiber that provide up to 35% higher permeability than previous generation modules improving operating efficiencies and productivity.

There’s nothing like the proven performance of Dow’s popular family of pressurized ultra-filtration (UF) modules.

For your project, we have the possibility to select either the 26 or 28 series IntegraFlux modules with XP fiber that provides up to 35% higher permeability than previous generation modules improving operating efficiency and productivity.
